My mom is kinda crazy about Consumer Reports. She won't buy anything without checking with them first. As far as she is concerned, CR is god, and she must obey. 

 

Consumer Reports is specifically designed for people like my mom:

 

First, she is a cautious person who believes that the majority of things manufactured are absolute crap, and that one must look around to find something decent (probably true).

 

Second, like many of her generation (boomers), she couldn't use a computer to save her life. It is only a person who does not know how to access any type of information on the internet who would utilize this Consumer Reports crap.

 

Let me explain a little bit about how I came to hate them as I do now. I was doing a school project and was looking for an example of a company that Web 2.0 left in the dust (whatever that means). I remembered in the past checking Consumer Reports Online (at the request of my mother) looking for some sort of review or other. I always remember that any article that looked remotely useful required me to pay about $35 CAD for some sort of subscription. Et Voila! A perfect example of an old school Web dinosaur. People would rather go to a rediclous site like AVSForums.com and read through a million BS posts by "some guy" than pay CR their friggin' retarded subscription fee.

 

Get with the friggin' program you 'tards.

There is something about the stupidity of news broadcasts that says poor things about the stupidity of people. Everytime I watch the news I can't help but yell out at the stupidity of at least one story. Last week, it was Maclean's and their fearmongering lack of logic.

 

 

This thing is so full of holes it makes me sick. By their logic I shouldn't have bothered to go to elementry school because kids cheated.  I can't believe that it took three people to write this garbage. This crap has become typical Maclean's fearmongering... (I must have missed the announcement that they were now owned by Ted Turner...)

 

Speaking of fearmongering, I was watching a CTV newnet broadcast about "cyberbullying".

 

 

I remember going to school when I was younger and my parent's telling me that names wouldn't heart me, someone should have told the principal the same thing. I've got some really shocking news for these people, students have always said mean, derogatory, sexually suggestive, and downright rude things about their teachers.

 

If there is one thing I can't stand it's fearmongering crap. I think I had better stop watching/reading/listening to the news. Ill stick to voyager to get my facts...

There is something about Edmonton that reminds me of the movies... Hmmm I think it was a Star Wars movie? Yup, I live on Hoth; or so it would appear. Something about the cold-assed season after the new year always makes me want to get the hell out of town at every available opportunity. Mebbe that's why I was going to go to India! Goa is a place I have always wanted to visit. Add to that the fact that it is -20 outside right now, and the current forecast for Goa is highs of 30 and sun for the next five days, and I really want to go! I could use a week of beach, motorbikes, warmth, beach, beer, and really just not being in Edmonton. Only problem comes in justifying the 2Gs or so necessary to get a plane out there! Well, if anyone wants to go, let me know!

 

 

Apart from some sort of inner "get-the-hell-out-of-edmonton" lust, the midterm season has crept up on me. Normally I would care at least a little bit more, but being in my last year has given me a terrible I don't give a shit attitude. Besides the fact that I find the majority of my assignments/exams to be infantile and completely useless, I just can't be bothered to put in any real effort. Something about studying for 8 hrs a day 5 days a week in the Summer at my job has made me see school as a huge waste of my time!

 

Ohwell, guess this one definitely chalks up as a Monday blog...

Anyone else bored with Simon from American Idol? As a former cook, I am a huge fan of Hell's Kitchen. As a maniac I am a huge fan of anything taken to the extreme. Well I tell you, Chef Ramsay is not only taking it to the max, he is an out of control lunatic.

On the subject of Brits, I've recently been watching alot of British TV, specifically Extras. This one is Ricky Gervais (the boss from the British version of the office) at his finest. Here's one with Magneto:

So,

 

Today I was looking through the usual internet junk I check on a daily basis and I found something neat. It was a mouse on Dell's days of deals for only 20 bucks! The mouse advertised using some sweet nano tech to kill germs. Being unsure about the whole thing, I decided to ask a buddy of mine who is in the Nano Tech field. Let me tell you that I'm glad I did! Not only was it unlikely that the nano tech be of sufficiently small size (apparently there is a difference between the actual definition of nano tech, and the consumer definition), that type of nano tech coating requires water to work! So this mouse is best used under water apparently!

 

Can things get any more rediculous? Yep, you bet they can! The Titanium Dioxide coating has been linked to cancer! I think that this IOGEAR company needs to think about not killing people before they release products! And to Dell? Their deals aren't really deals at all!
